Fine Dining in the Grand Salons

The Champagne Reception
Guests are welcomed on arrival in the Reception Hall by uniformed staff with champagne and canapes. The main historical rooms are open to explore and with optional musical entertainment such as a classical quartet or a jazz pianist playing softly in the background, a truly elegant atmosphere is established.

State Dining RoomDining in the State Dining Room (up to 24 guests)
Dinner follows in the family dining room where King George IV once dined. Hung with portraits of the Hopetoun family, the State Dining Room provides an incomparable setting for smaller parties. The family dining table set with white linen, silver candelabra and sparkling crystal is both intimate and stunning.

Red Drawing Room DinnerDining in the Red Drawing Room (up to 50 guests)
For slightly larger groups, we recommend the Red Drawing Room - a breathtaking Regency room that was specifically designed to impress. The original crimson damask wall covering, imposing fireplace and rococo ceiling ensures a sumptuous and unique setting.

The Adam Stables DinnerDining in the Adam Stables (60 - 120 guests)
For larger groups, the recently refurbished Adam Stables creates an impressive and atmospheric backdrop for your event. This room is simply and tastefully decorated to the highest conservation standards with original stone floors and historic detailing and can be dressed to suit your requirements.

The Adam Ballroom BanquetDining in the Ballroom (60 to 300 guests or up to 250 for dinner dance)
For the most splendid events, the Ballroom provides a truly glamorous setting. A blazing log fire and beautiful floral display greets guests in the Reception Hall while in the Ballroom, complete with crystal chandeliers and Aubusson tapestries, tables are set and themed to your requirements. The adjoining Tapestry Room, again with log fire, is ideal as a cocktail bar.

Guests are welcomed on arrival at the imposing front steps by our House Piper. The magnificent State Apartments are open for guests to explore and champagne and canapés are served throughout by uniformed staff. A gælic harp entertains in the Red Drawing Room and knowledgeable guides are on hand to provide information about the paintings, furniture and objets d’art. Following the reception, guests are led by our Piper to the Adam Ballroom with its beautiful crystal chandeliers and seventeenth century Aubusson tapestries for a candlelit Scottish banquet.

Scottish Gala Evening Table ThemingThe Banquet - Dinner is Served…
Guests enter the Ballroom via the Entrance Hall past a roaring log fire and beautiful display of fresh flowers. Two mouth watering, distinctly Scottish menus are available which feature the very best fresh, local produce. Each table is dressed with smart navy and white linen, white napkins, two silver candelabra and one floral table centre in the colour of your choice. Matching navy seat covers with white cord ties, table menu cards and floral displays for the room are also included.

Haggis AddressMeanwhile…
A Scottish country dance band plays background music during dinner. The Haggis is piped in, ceremoniously “addressed” in the manner of Burns, and presented to the Host who enjoys a dram with the Piper and Chef. After dinner the Hopetoun House Dancers perform traditional Highland and Scottish country dancing and encourage the guests to join in. The evening ends with the traditional end to a party in Scotland - the signing of Auld Lang Syne.

Alternatively, a colourful fireworks display can be staged either from behind the House or in front of the House with the Forth Road and Rail bridges in the background.
