for consultation and site visits. With extensive experience of organising
weddings at Hopetoun House, our Co-ordinator would be delighted to advise on and be
involved at all stages of the planning for your wedding day at Hopetoun, including booking
pipers, dance bands, florists or any other service you require.
Please note Hopetoun House is open to the public from April to September
which means that some areas of the House are not available for private
functions until later in the afternoon. The Ballroom and Tapestry Room,
however, can be made available at any time of day throughout the year.
Site Visits Site visits can be arranged during office hours Monday to Friday and on occasional weekends and MUST BE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Ceremonies
A marriage ceremony in the State Apartments of Hopetoun House is a very
special experience. The ceremony can be held in either the Garden Parlour
or the Red Drawing Room both of which have magnificent
views of the fountain on the west lawns and the magnificent parkland beyond.
Floral displays can be arranged to compliment the bridal bouquet and with
music to suit your taste together with the historical décor, paintings
and antiques the setting could not be more romantic. Complimentary champagne
awaits the happy couple whilst they sign the wedding register either in
the Small Library or State Dining Room where the surroundings provide
a stunning backdrop for photographs. There is also the opportunity to
have post-ceremony drinks in the Front Hall for guests before they move
to the Adam Ballroom or Adam Stables for the main reception and wedding
breakfast.
Ceremonies in the Adam Stables (Licensed for Civil Ceremonies)
The Adam Stables were recently refurbished using the very latest conservation
techniques, converting them from the Marquess' stables
to an elegant, chic and versatile room. Seating up to 150 guests, the
Stables is a beautiful and atmospheric place in which to celebrate wedding
vows. A private courtyard provides a beautiful entrance for the wedding
party and when the ceremony is over guests can leave via the dramatic
colonnade that leads to the imposing facade of the main House. The Adam
Stables is licensed for civil ceremonies and is also available for religious
services. Music can be organised for you whether it be bagpipes to pipe
the bride down the aisle or an elegant string quartet to accompany hymns
or play secular music throughout.
Ceremonies in the Tapestry Room (Licensed for Civil Ceremonies)
In the summer months, smaller wedding ceremonies of up to 60 guests with
an outdoor drinks reception either on the lawns in front of the main House
or in the South Colonnade can be held in the Tapestry Room. This impressive
room, hung with Aubusson tapestries is situated within the Ballroom wing
and as guests enter they can enjoy the backdrop of the main House.
Ceremonies in the Carriage Room
Finally, the Carriage Room is available for smaller weddings and would
most commonly be used in conjunction with a reception or wedding breakfast
in the Adam Stables. A simple room with Georgian windows overlooking a
private courtyard, it can be dressed or themed to your requirements.
Please contact the Wedding Co-ordinator for pricing details.

Receptions
Whether
you decide to celebrate your vows at Hopetoun House itself, or opt for
your local church or Registry Office, Hopetoun is available for your wedding
reception.
Two impressive, but quite different areas are available for banquets
and entertainment - the Adam Ballroom and Tapestry Room situated in the
South Pavilion and the Adam Stables and Carriage Room located in the North
Pavilion.
Adam
Ballroom and Tapestry Room
The Adam Ballroom and Tapestry Room is the most popular area of Hopetoun
for wedding receptions. Guests are welcomed with a log fire in the entrance
hall before entering the Tapestry Room, resplendent with stunning Eighteenth
Century tapestries to await the arrival of the Bridal Party. With a roaring
log fire in winter or with doors open to the Colonnade in summer, this
is the perfect room to treat your guests to champagne and canapés
served by uniformed staff whilst the Bride and Groom have photographs
taken in the manicured grounds.
The
Adam Ballroom seats from 80 to 250 guests with ample space for dancing
and entertainment. On entering this room, the strong sense of space and
historic grandeur together with the fabulous Aubusson tapestries, sparkling
chandeliers and floral displays of your choice cannot fail to impress
your guests. After the banquet, the Tapestry Room can be used as a cocktail
bar.
Adam
Stables and Carriage Room
The Adam Stables is best suited for wedding receptions of up to 100 guests.
The recent refurbishment has given the area a chic yet historic air that
lends itself well to elegant, contemporary wedding receptions. The private
courtyard entrance can be decorated with dramatic flambeau or other lighting
effects to create a memorable experience and the original stone flooring
and soft lighting in the main room combine to create a unique ambience.
On arrival, guests can enjoy refreshments in the Carriage Room whilst
awaiting the arrival of the Bridal Party and once the banquet is over
it can be used as a cocktail bar area. As the evening progresses, the
private courtyard can be used for alternative entertainment or as a quiet
space to cool down after dancing.
